Frequently Asked Questions
What does RSC do?
Red Squirrel Consulting helps companies solve engineering and product development challenges, build the capabilities they need, and provide experienced leadership when the situation calls for it.
What types of companies does RSC work with?
RSC works primarily with product-driven and manufacturing companies that rely on engineering, product development and innovation to grow.
We are particularly well suited to organizations that are growing, changing, launching new products, or facing challenges their current resources aren’t equipped to solve.
What does a typical RSC engagement look like?
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all engagement.
Some clients need help understanding a problem and developing a roadmap. Others need hands-on support implementing a solution. Some need experienced engineering leadership for a defined period of time.
We start with the problem—not a predetermined service.
What is a Solve engagement?
A Solve engagement helps you understand what is happening, why it’s happening, and what needs to happen next.
The result is a clear understanding of the challenge and a practical, prioritized path forward.
What does Build mean?
Build is about turning the plan into reality.
RSC can help develop and implement the processes, systems, capabilities and product development practices your organization needs to execute more effectively.
What does Lead mean?
Lead is for situations where experienced leadership is needed to move critical work forward.
RSC can provide fractional or interim engineering and product development leadership, stepping into the organization and leading the work until the team is positioned to carry it forward.
The goal isn’t to become indispensable. It’s to leave you stronger than we found you.
How long do engagements typically last?
It depends on the challenge.
A Solve engagement may be measured in days or weeks. Build and Lead engagements may extend for several months or longer.
The scope and duration are determined by what the organization actually needs—not an arbitrary consulting package.
Do you have to know what service you need before contacting RSC?
Absolutely not.
That’s the point.
Tell us what’s happening, what isn’t working, or what you’re trying to accomplish. We’ll help determine whether RSC is the right partner—and, if so, whether the answer is Solve, Build or Lead.
Does RSC work with companies that already have an engineering team?
Absolutely.
RSC isn’t intended to replace a strong internal team. We complement it with experience, perspective and additional capacity when needed.
What makes RSC different from a traditional consulting firm?
RSC isn’t focused on delivering a report and walking away.
Sometimes the right answer is a roadmap. Sometimes it’s hands-on execution. Sometimes it’s experienced leadership.
RSC meets you where the problem is and helps move it forward.
What does an initial conversation cost?
Nothing.
The first conversation is simply an opportunity to understand what you’re facing and determine whether RSC can help.
There is no obligation to engage RSC.
What if RSC isn’t the right fit?
We’ll tell you.
If we don’t believe we’re the right resource for your situation, we’ll say so. The goal of the first conversation is to determine the right next step—not to force a consulting engagement.
Still Have Questions?
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
Tell us what’s happening. We’ll start there.
